Jumper Only Class List Released

Jumper Only Show Class List

The inaugural BISC Jumper Only show will take place on July 7, 2012.

This show is meant to serve as a fun yet competitive chance for jumpers to compete over more challenging courses designed specifically for the jumpers, as well as offering classics, relays, and prize money.

Heights will range from 2’6″ to 3’6″. There will be multiple Tables offered to practice varying USEF show formats (more information about each type of Table and what it means will be published here as the show nears). This show is geared towards riders who want to challenge themselves and their horses with triple combinations, liverpools, one strides, bending lines, and other more advanced obstacles that usually aren’t seen at our normal shows.

Questions? Email a show committee member (see Website for more details) or simply post a comment here or on the Facebook page and we’ll answer.

We hope for all your support as we try to expand the horizons of BISC to better serve our members.

Newsletter

Did you get your January Newsletter? If not, send an email to bainbridgesaddleclub@gmail.com to get yourself on the mailing list for future postings, and read it using the link below.

The new bainbridgesaddleclub@gmail.com email will be a big method of communication from the Board to members for alerts about work parties, shows, etc. If you haven’t been receiving emails from that address, make sure to get yourself on the contact list by shooting off an email.

Stay tuned for the official date of the Spring Work Party. It’s very important that members try to attend so that we can get as much work done as possible to get the club looking great by April!

January Newsletter

Newsletter coming out soon

Stay tuned for the first newsletter of 2012!

In the meantime winter is a great time to check your tack for safety hazards (http://special.equisearch.com/downloads/charts/EQTackSafetyCheckChart.pdf) and make repairs before the show season hits!

Speaking of tack, there will be a used tack sale at the first playday. Bring any clean, gently  used tack in good condition that you would like to sell with a tag (with your name and a price on it). Bring your checkbook too!

Don’t Forget About the Classifieds!

There’s been a new post to the Classified section of the website, which can be found under the “Extras” tab or here (http://www.bainbridgesaddleclub.org/extras.htm).

Current classifieds include a working student/adult position at Woodside Stables, the tack store at Countryman Stables, and equine photography.

Posting on the website is FREE, and we encourage members to email the BISC account (bainbridgesaddleclub@gmail.com) with the text of what you would like your ad to say!

P.S. stay tuned for a newsletter, to be sent via email in the next few days. Not on the email list? Email bainbridgesaddleclub@gmail.com to get your email put on the list, or make a note on your membership form.

P.P.S. a new membership form has been posted online! I want to gently remind everyone that your points will only count after all your dues have been paid, so make sure you get those membership forms in ASAP so that there is no confusion and you can be in the best position for year end awards. The first show is double points, after all!

Trainers: there is an extra space for you to sign on the membership form this year, keep an eye out for it. It’s on the second page.

McLain Ward Suffers Leg Fracture at WEF

For all our hunter/jumper members out there:

McLain Ward, one of the top US riders (if not the top) fell during a $30,000 Grand Prix at WEF and suffered a compound fracture of the femur and patella (broken thigh/knee). Recovery time for this type of fracture is generally 6 to 9 months, and this could take Ward out of commission for the 2012 Olympics.

See the Chronicle’s article for more information: http://www.chronofhorse.com/article/mclain-ward-breaks-leg-fall

Let’s hope McLain has a speedy recovery and is strong in time to represent the US in London!

Schooling Show Dates

Schooling Show dates for 2012 are as follows:

April 14 (Double Points)
May 5
June 2
July 7 (Jumper Only)
August 4
September 22

All shows excepting the July 7 Jumper Only will be run using the “Hunter/Jumper Class List” which you can easily find on the website (www.bainbridgesaddleclub.org) in the Schooling Show Section.

The Show Committee is still ironing out all the details for the Jumper Only show, and will have the class list up as soon as possible. What we do know is that the show will have lots of classes heights from 2’6″ to 3’6″ and complex courses and spooky jumps. The show will feature a 3′ relay and a 3’6″ classic, each with prize money. It’s meant to test and challenge our riders, as well as draw in some advanced riders to experience the club. We hope you can join us as an exhibitor, spectator, or volunteer as we try to expand BISC’s horizons.

If you have any questions or suggestions for what you’d like to see this year, leave a comment below or email me or another board member.

We will also be having a work party on March 25 to clean up the club for the first show. This is a great opportunity to get involved and help out!

Welcome to 2012 with BISC

In the new year, BISC will be using a blog to keep our members updated on news in the horse world: be it local, regional, or national. This is the first post!

Horse show dates and revisions to the class list will be available after our meeting on Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Got some last-minute suggestions? Email me (your BISC webmaster and junior representative) at a.c.papajani@gmail.com and I will present your ideas to the board.

In the meantime, check out a slideshow of some BISC riders and their horses showing or schooling at the club. Thanks to Aaron Coudray, BISC Photographer and my fellow Junior Representative Heidi Franz, and John Papajani for the photos.

I hope to see all of you at our first show in April, and at our Spring work party (date TBD). Wishing you all a very happy new year!
